I think Japanese movies are very beautiful and meaningful. I love Seven Samurai directed by Kurosawa Akira and Oshin, Japanese popular drama, and other movies very much. I want to introduce every movies but I don’t have enough time to do so.

Now, I will talk about one of my favorite movies and one of the most famous movie of Japan. The title is Tonari-no-Totoro(My neighbor Totoro). It directed by Miyazaki Hayao, one of the most famous animation creators, and released in 1988.

The story of Totoro is full of dreams and wonders. A family moved in Tokorozawa in Saitama. The family is consisted by father and two girls. One of the girls is Satsuki 11 years old and another is Mei 4 years old. Satuki is a reasonable girl and she loves her little sister very much. And Mei is a little selfish but very curious girl. Their father is working for a college.

They moved there because of their mother’s illness. Their mother is in a hospital near Tokorozawa and she will leave the hospital soon. So, this family moved Tokorozawa which has much nature and clean air. The house that they live in was very old and like a ghost house! Satsuki and Mei cried, “There may be ghosts!” And their father also said, “Wonderful! My dream was to live in a ghost house like this one!” The family very liked this house.

One day, when Satsuki was in the school and father was working, Mei was playing in a garden of her house picking acorns up. Then, she found a strange creature running. He was as small as a stuffed animal and holding a sack on his shoulder. He had a lot of acorns in his sack and he dropped them one after another. Curious Mei followed the creature picking the dropped acorns up and lost her way in the forest near her house. She looked for the strange creature but he had gone anywhere. Then, she found an acorn in a hollow of a huge camphor tree. She stretched her arm to pick it up but she fell into the hollow. The hollow was like a narrow tunnel and Mei touched down on something soft. It was the stomach of a huge and strange creature. It was very similar to the one which Mei followed. Mei asked sleeping him without fear, “I am Mei! And what is your name?” He woke up very slowly and yawned, “To-To-Ro!!” “Totoro!? You are Totoro!”, Mei cried and they made friends.

The strange creature, Totoro, was a kind of master of the forest. He live for very long time and only children can see it.

My favorite character is Satsuki. She loves her family very much and does all housework instead of her mother. At the last of the movie, Satsuki know that the date when her mother leave the hospital put off because of aggravation of her illness. She was very sad but she told her little sister that tenderly. Mei cried “I want mom back to the house now!” Satsuki said angrily, “Don’t you mind if mom die!?” They quarreled and Mei leave the house without telling her destination. She wanted to go the hospital to see her mother. However, Mei took wrong way and be a lost child. At that time, Satsuki was running around looking for her sister but she couldn’t found her. Her sandals were broken due to long time running. So, Satsuki took off the sandals and began to run in bare feet. That is the best scene of the this movie, I think. Finally, Satsuki found Mei with help of Totoro and they went to the hospital together. They looked very happy.

This movie is about love of family, sisters and nature. After watching this movie, everyone can feel warm. I hope a lot of people all over the world enjoy this My Neighbor Totoro!!

A man who didn't die.

Hello! My best vegitable is pampkins!! They are very sweet and hearty. My mothere often make pampkin-pie using the pampkins for us. I like it very much!

My hometown has good and bad aspests , as many other cities and towns have. Good aspest is that we have very rich nature and peaceful life. We can enjoy the beautiful scenes through a year! I love them very much, especially, autumn.
Bad acpect is that it is sometimes very inconvenient to live in the town. We have not much oppotunities to find jobs in the town, so most people must work out.I think I will have to find jobs in other town. But When I become an old woman, I will come back and spend times in farm growing crops like my grandmother.

My Lovely Town

November 2st 2005
Tenma 3-3, Aozora city, Osaka, Japan

Dear Kiki

Hello. But I love the peaceful atmospere of my town.

There is an old beautiful temple in the center of the town. It is one of the important cultural properties and Meiji-Tenno, a Japanese emperor, has visited it. We are very proud of that. Next to its precinct, there is a ginkgo tree. It is so tall that we can look at the tree from everywhere in town. In autumn, the leaves covering the tree fall at once and they make the ground deep yellow. I want to show you some day.

Ｍｙ family have some farms and rice paddies in the town and my grandparents works there everyday.
